How many toilets will I need?
Many events are judged on the adequacy and cleanliness of the toilet facilities.
The number of toilets to be provided will depend on a number of factors including:
- Type of event
- Event duration
- Anticipated crowd numbers (more people - more toilets required)
- Proportion of males and females (women require more toilets than men)
- Whether there will be the service of alcohol (consumption of alcohol will increase toilet usage)
- Food consumption (consumption of food may increase toilet usage)
Toilet facilities must be able to cater adequately for the number of patrons attending your event. If existing facilities are not adequate, or there are no existing facilities, additional portable units must be made available. There is no uniform Australian Standard for calculating the number of toilets required for events, however the Australian Emergency Manual (Safe and Healthy Mass Gatherings) recommends the below as a guide only.
For large scale events you should consider providing special needs toilets.

How many showers will I need?
In general we say the accepted rule is one (1) shower per 50-75 people.
What sort of water supply is required?
A good supply of potable water either by a reticulated town supply, water tank or bulk water truck. Some of our toilet trailers have an onboard fresh water holding tank which can be used making the facility ‘self sufficient’.
Showers use a large amount of water so depending on numbers, showering will determine the amount of water required. As a rule of thumb, we usually work on estimates of 7 litres per minute shower heads x 4 minute shower = 28 litres per usage. Extra allowance for hand basin usage should also be allowed for.
What are the power requirements?
Generally a 10 or 15 amp single phase power outlet for each facility. Each facility carries 50m of power leads.
If a generator is required (at the event organisers cost), it will need to be a 10kVa for one (1) trailer and 20kVa for two (2) or three (3) trailers located together. All generators being used overnight must be ‘silent pack’ type.
What happens to the waste?
Waste from the toilet trailer can be held within the onboard waste tank and is then required to be disposed of before we leave the event site.
The event organiser is responsible to either arrange with the local council for us to access a suitable sewerage 'dump' point, or arrange with a local commercial pump truck contractor to have our trailer holding tank pumped out. For events running over a few days, the waste may need to be disposed of throughout the event and again prior to our departure.
Grey water from the showers can either go into the sewer onsite or into waste tanks for disposal at a later time. Bare in mind there is a large quantity of water to be disposed of and disposal from waste tanks will be at the event organisers cost.
Are the facilities cleaned during the event?
Yes. An attendant stays onsite with the facility keeping it cleaned and stocked throughout the event.
Cleaning times are every two hours between 7am (first morning clean) - 10pm (final night clean). If our trailers are open and operational for 24 hours, this does not mean they are monitored for 24 hours.
If your event runs for 24 hours and you require the facilities to be cleaned and stocked the entire time or beyond our standard cleaning times, this will need to be organised well in advance and will involve additional costs for extra staff on cleaning shifts.
How do I confirm my booking?
Our Hire Agreement will be sent to you for signing. Once the Hire Agreement is signed and returned to us, your booking is locked in.
Do I need to pay a deposit for my booking?
Yes. We require a 50% deposit of the total price on the signing of our Hire Agreement with the balance due and payable prior to the last day of your event.
What is the weight of the truck and trailer?
The weight of the truck and trailer is approximately 20 tonnes.
What are the site requirements?
We require access that will cater for a truck and semi trailer. In general an all weather flat surface is required. Due to its size, we need to avoid low over hanging trees etc. and due to our onboard tanks, we need to avoid any large dips in roads our trailer will need to travel on to get to site. We are more than happy to discuss access if you believe there might by any issues. In some cases, we will do a site visit prior to the event. Size of site per facility, 6m wide x 20m long with 4.3m clearance above.
Can I hire trailers for an extended period of time?
Yes. Please contact us on 1300 865 968 to discuss.
